The Haldi Ceremony
The Haldi ceremony is a joyful pre-wedding ritual in Indian culture where the bride and groom are adorned with a yellow paste made from turmeric.
This paste is believed to have protective and beautifying properties, ensuring the couple stays healthy and their skin glows for the wedding. The colour yellow, symbolizing luck and happiness, plays an important role in this ceremony.
Family and friends gather to apply the paste, sending the couple into their wedding day with love, good wishes, and vibrant yellow blessings.!
What Should I Wear?
For the Haldi ceremony, we encourage guests to wear bright and festive attire in shades of yellow or white. Traditional Indian clothing like sarees, salwar kameez, lehengas, or kurta pajamas are great options, but non-traditional outfits in these colors are perfectly fine too.
Comfort is important, as the ceremony is lively and involves participation in the Haldi rituals. Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton or light silk and avoid heavy embellishments since turmeric may leave stains.
